Fusion Theatre is made a of actors with disabilities. Dramability started in 1997. It was formed to provide acting and theatre opportunities in the South-East of Melbourne. It is localated in Dandenong and has been there since it began. Like other groups in Fusion Theatre, Dramability devises, rehearses and performs original works of theatre and presents them in public performances. Dramatts started 1999. originally, members of Dramatts came from day programs at Options Victoria Inc and Wallara Australia Inc. Options Victoria continues to use the Drama project as part of its training for clients, but in reason years Dramatts has opened up to take members from the community. Blairlogie started in 2006. It is drawn from clients attending day programs at Blairlogie Living and Learning Inc. It expands the services offered by the organisation to its clients. Like Dramatts it is open to members of the community. In 2007, Fusion Theatre begin a special project with women in wheelchairs. This group is known as Wheel Women. Wheel Women are devising a dance drama work on issues of disability and maternity. Fusion Theatre is community theatre which aims to provide skills training and performance experience for people who are interested in theatre. Members begin the process of creating theatre by workshopping their ideas for new plays. This includes discussion, games, improvisation and reflection on the workshop. As the play develops, each group continues to rehearse for 2 hours every week. The process combines the skills members have gained with issues that are important to them. The company is generously funded by the City of Greater Dandenong and receives occasional grants from other sources. |
